Florida gamblers soon to get more options
Broward County, among other Florida counties, soon will be able to add another enticing element to its growing appeal as a sought-after tourist destination: fullfledged casino gambling at blackjack, baccarat and other house-banked card games at the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s seven casinos.
Gaming tables already have been designed and ordered with the first shipment of 64 tables planned for the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood for an operations start this summer. The new table games are part of a 25- year deal between the Seminole Tribe and Gov. Charlie Crist.
The compact, which was signed last November, allows the tribe to expand its gaming operations in exchange for annual payments to the state of at least $100 million in slot revenue for Florida schools.
