Getting to Know Craps

craps

“Try craps, it is so fun and easy.”

“I would stay away from craps if I were you, there is way too much to know to win.”

Chances are you have heard both of those sentiments in your life if you are deciding whether or not you would like to try your hand at craps.

The truth, as it always seems to, lies somewhere in the middle. The skills of the game varies on what bets are placed.

Craps is a simple game in the fact that it involves several players and one of those shoots the dice.

Before the shooter rolls the dice for the first time, called “come out roll,” each player makes what is called a “pass line bet.”

The outcome is then determined by the roll. If the roll amounts to 7 or 11 pass line bets win. If the roll turns out to be 2, 3 or 12, then those bets are lost. Roll 4-10, excluding 7, are called “point” and another roll is warranted unless a 7 falls out. If that happens the pass line bets win if the numbers before 7 appear first. If not, they lose. Theoretically, if those numbers do not pop up, the game could continue forever.

Whenever you go to the casino you see the action is drawn to the craps table. The game probably attracts the most attention from non-players to watch the action. A good way to learn is to watch the action and learn how to play by long-time craps players.

Another way is to order a DVD online explaining the rules of craps, or if you belong to a DVD through mail program such as Netflix or Blockbuster add it to your queue.

This is not to say that you can not just go ahead and try your novice hand at craps at your local casino tonight.

Good luck and have fun!
