Good news for Arkansas gamblers
Players of video poker, blackjack and other electronic games at Arkansas’ Southland Park will be able to start earlier and stay later.
The Arkansas Racing Commission has unanimously approved allowing the greyhound track to expand its hours of electronic games.
Troy Keeping, the track’s general manager, told the commission the additional hours were needed to boost revenue and compete with casinos in nearby Mississippi.
Keeping estimated the additional hours will bring the track between $1.3 million and $1.5 million in additional revenue.
Southland and Oaklawn Park thoroughbred race track in Hot Springs added the games after voters approved in local elections in 2006.
