14 Horses Vying For Connally Turf H On Saturday Night

You are in for a late night treat if you want to bet on one of the weekend’s best horse races, which will be run late Saturday night.

The John B. Connally Turf Handicap will be run at the Sam Houston track in Houston. The Grade III event has a purse of $200,000 on the line and quite a few horses will be vying for the prize, 14 in fact.

The race will be run at approximately 10:28 p.m. local time, or 11:28 p.m. Eastern, 8:28 Pacific.

The race is practically a pick-em for potential bettors. With the large number of horses in the field and no clear favorite (Orientate Express is at 4-1 and considered the favorite with several 6-1 and 8-1 odds behind him) and no real long shots (the longest shot being Acting Zippy at 15-1).

Trainers Steven Asmussen and Jerenesto Torrez have two horses in the field and they will be running right next to each other. Ablaze With Spirit and Red Rock Creek running from post 7 and 8 respectively for Asmussen while Torrez’s horses Fifteen Love and Real Appeal run out of the last two posts, 13 and 14.
