Breeder’s Cup Winners Not Resting

Tapitsfly

While many of the Breeders Cup winners from the November races have taken breathers or have seen their racing careers end, three horses are in vigorous training for races this coming winter.

Among those in training at Gulfsteam Park include Furthest Land, winner of the Dirt Mile; She Be Wild, victor in Juvenile Fillies and Tapitsfly who won the Juvenile Files Turf.

Furthest Land has ruled the track thus far, running three times, most recently on December 28. His goals include Santa Anitas San Pasqual on January 9 and the San Antonio about a month later.

The ultimate goal, according to trainer Mike Maker is the Dubai World Cup.

She Be Wild arrived late last week and ran a half-mile in 47.20 seconds with the goal of the Gulfstream and Tampa Bay Downs.

Though trainer Wayne Catalano has clear long term goals in mind for the three-year old female.

“Our two main goals at the moment are the Ashland and Kentucky Oaks,” Catalano said.

Tapitsfly has had one workout under her belt, taking a half-mile in 48.60 on Christmas Even.

The trio of horses will remain working at the track until their various tune up races before their ultimate goals.
