A winner on Saturday, Mast Track has a new owner on Monday.

The victor of the Grade 3, $100,000 Native Diver Handicap at Hollywood Park on Saturday, Mast Track was sold to Frank Stronach from the estate of Robert J. Frankel who had owned and trained the horse until his death on November 16.

The five-year old will now be trained by John Shirreffs in California and will be preparing for racing in early 2010.

Stronach acquired Mast Track in a private deal late last week from the Robert J. Frankel Trust. Frankel, the Hall of Fame trainer who died after a lengthy illness on Nov. 16, discussed the sale of Mast Track earlier this fall, according to a person familiar with the estate. Frankel bred Mast Track.

The new owners have pledged to give half of the horse’s winnings in 2010 back to the Frankel Trust. Since his death, Mast Track had been being cared for and trained by Frankel’s long time assistant Humberto Ascanio.

Mast Track has won six of his 20 career starts and has won over $900,000.
