New Races For The Breeders’ Cup
Once the Triple Crown is over, it is never too early to start thinking about the Breeders Cup, even if it does mean that the nice, warm summer will be over by then.
The Breeders Cup will be held this year on November 6 and 7 from Santa Anita Park in California. The event features 14 main-event races that appeals to horses all across the world.
They have now added several races throughout the world that allows the winners an automatic big to one of the races. The number of those races world-wide has increased from 62 to 57.
The foreign races returning will be staged at Woodbine in Canada; Longchamp and Deauville in France; the Curragh, Leopardstown, and Dundalk in Ireland; Newmarket in England; Moonee Valley in Australia.
The returning automatic bid races in the U.S. is Belmont Park, Del Mar, Calder, Arlington Park, Emerald Downs, Delaware Park, Monmouth Park, Philadelphia Park, Turfway Park, Keeneland, and Santa Anita in the U.S.
The new foreign races are the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on June 27, the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on Sept. 9, the Champion Stakes at Newmarket on Oct. 17, the Moyglare Stud at the Curragh, the Diamond Stakes at Dundalk, the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville on Aug. 9, the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley on Sept. 25, and the Prix de LAbbaye at Longchamp on Oct. 4.
