Boise State Broncos vs Nevada Wolf Pack
Boise State had to win games convincingly and though they have done just that they remain firmly entrenched in the sixth spot in the BCS standings with little hope of advancing in their final regular season game of the year, at home, against Nevada.
The Broncos (11-0, 6-0) were criticized for not winning big through some of their mid-season games, but they have turned it on recently, winning their last two by an average of 34.5 points per game.
Boise State is looking for their 12th straight win an just another Western Athletic Conference title when they face a hard-charging Nevada Wolfpack on Friday yet they appear headed for a ho-hum bowl game as they will not be heading to the BCS title game nor will they be going to a BCS bowl game because the TCU Horned Frogs seem headed for that honor, since the two teams hail from conferences that get only one bid to the BCS bowl series.
Still, the Boise State Broncos are focused on winning their sixth WAC title in eight years, though it will not be easy against a fellow undefeated WAC team, the Wolfpack (8-3, 7-0). With a win, they are guaranteed at least a share of the title and can win it outright with a win on Saturday and a regular season finale at home against New Mexico State on December 5 while Nevada will be playing their regular season finale in this game.
They are also seeking t heir 56th straight home win on the Smurf Turf dating back to their last loss in the regular season, on September 8, 2001.
Nevada has also been burying opponents in recent weeks, including a destruction of New Mexico State, 63-20 on Saturday in which the Wolfpack rolled up 670 yards of offense, with an astonishing 670 on the ground—that is for one game!
The Wolfpack have dropped nine straight games to the Broncos.
