Denver Nuggets vs Oklahoma City Thunder

After losing the back half of a four-game road trip last week, the Denver Nuggets returned home to post a big victory over the Phoenix Suns on Saturday and they will now attempt to start a win streak when the Oklahoma City Thunder visit the Pepsi Center on Monday night.

Denver (17-7) started their trip out strong, with wins over the San Antonio Spurs and Philadelphia 76ers, but toppled in games to the Charlotte Bobcats and Detroit Pistons, but they bounced back with a nice win over a quality team, 105-99 over Phoenix as they begin a three-game home stand.

It was not a work of art, with the Nuggets down by 17 in the third quarter, but that is when Chauncey Billups went to work, scoring 17 of his last 24 points in the second half.

Denver was also aided by the return of Kenyon Martin, who missed both losses with a dislocated left pinkie and cam back to score 12 points and grab nine boards on Saturday.

The surprising Thunder (12-10) is looking for another three game road winning streak of the season, their second of the year, but are looking to bounce back from dropping a home game, 102-89 to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, allowing LeBron James to score a season-high of 44 points.

That was too much to handle for Oklahoma City Thunder even with Kevin Durant scoring 29 points and Jeff Green posted a season-best 26 points in the losing effort.

With the offensive power, and defensive struggles from Oklahoma City, this should be a high-scoring affair with Carmelo Anthony’s league leading 30.3 points and Durant’s 28.3, good for third place in the NBA.

Both of those players were on fire in the one-sided four-game series last year, with Denver winning them all behind an average of 31.3 points from Anthony, but Durant was a tad better, with 31.7 points per game.
