Los Angeles Angels vs. Colorado Rockies

All good things have to come to an end, so too did the Colorado Rockies impressive streak.

Colorado (37-34) saw their six game overall winning streak, and their franchise-best nine-game road winning streak, snapped on Tuesday with a 4-3 road loss to the Los Angeles Angels (37-32). Still they are considered the hottest team in baseball as the loss was just their third in the last 19 games.

To attempt to get their next winning streak going, the Rockies will turn to Jason Marquis (9-4, 3.71) who just missed out on complete game in his last outing, a 7-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Marquis limited the Pirates to three runs on eight hits and left with two outs in the ninth.

The Angels snapped a three-game losing skid and moved into a first-place tie with the Texas Rangers in the AL West. It marks the first time that Los Angeles has dwelled in first place since after the first game of the season.

Former National Leaguer, Bobby Abreu was the hero for Los Angeles on Tuesday when he hit a bases loaded single in the eighth to turn a 3-2 deficit into an eventual 4-3 victory.

Hopeful of taking over sole possession of first for the first time this year with a Texas loss and a victory by themselves, the Angels will send Joe Saunders (7-4, 3.80) to the mound. Saunders received a no-decision in his last outing, a 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, when he allowed four runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings.

With a win, Los Angeles can end their road trip at .500 with a 3-3 record and hand Colorado their first series loss since dropping the first three of a four game series in Houston from June 1-3.

The Colorado Rockies have won five straight series, including four sweeps.
