Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies have been considered the hottest team in baseball recently, but one team they just could not seem to beat are the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The majors’ best Dodgers (49-29) put a stop to the Rockies (41-36) most recent winning streak when they topped them 4-2 at Dodger Stadium on Monday via a 13th inning two-run walk-off homerun by Andre Ethier.

The Rockies were able to put it behind them, much like they have with every loss over the past month and they bounced back to claim a 3-0 victory on Tuesday. Jason Marquis allowed just two hits from the sharp-hitting Dodgers and gave himself some insurance runs with a two-run single in the seventh.

The Colorado Rockies set a franchise record for 21 wins in a single month, topping the 20 they had in 2007, which helped them get into the playoffs for the first time in 12 seasons.

Jason Hammel (5-3, 4.21) will try for another solid pitching performance after his last game when he allowed two runs over a season-best 7 1/3 innings in a 4-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Friday. Hammel is 4-0 with a 3.41 ERA in his last five starts.

The Dodgers await the return of Manny Ramirez, who will be back on Friday after serving a 50-game suspension on testing positive for a banned substance. He will be a welcome return as Los Angeles has struggled recently without their slugger, losing five of their last seven games.

Prior to their last series, the Los Angeles Dodgers have not lost two series in a row, not they are in danger of dropping three straight for the first time.

They will turn to Clayton Kershaw (5-5, 3.70) to end the skid by extending a good personal streak. Kershaw is trying to win three straight starts for the first time in his career after he struck out eight, allowed two runs on five hits over six innings of work in an 8-2 win over the Seattle Mariners on Friday.
