Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics were struggling while Kevin Garnett was injured and they were hopeful that upon his return, they would return to one of the NBA’s elite, but this has not happened. The Celtics will look to start a winning streak when they face the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.
Boston (30-16) was able to get past the woeful Washington Wizards in their last game on Monday to even their record at three since Garnett’s return from a knee injury which took him out of action for 10 games.
The Boston Celtics still played a rather lackluster three quarters, trailing 78-74 heading into the final quarter but staged a furious rally, outscoring Washington 25-10, to avoid losing their fourth straight road game, winning 99-88.
It was the reverse of the previous two games in which Boston held onto leads in Los Angeles against the Lakers and Orlando, before losing the lead and losing both games.
While Garnett is firmly back in the lineup, scoring 19 points in the win on Monday, one of the other big names on the Celtics may miss Wednesday’s game as Paul Pierce’s status is uncertain following a left foot strain which forced him to miss Boston’s fourth quarter rally.
Miami (24-24) may be a good opponent to face Boston at this point as they have lost four of their last five, including the last two to the improving Milwaukee Bucks in a home-and-home set.
The Miami Heat were beaten by a combined score of 192-165 in the games in Milwaukee on Saturday and in Miami on Monday. The losses put the Heat on the outer fringes of the playoff race.
Dwayne Wade averaged 22 points in the two losses to the Bucks and looks for a better effort against the Celtics, whom he scored his season high of 44 against last month in a 112-106 Celtics win in Miami on January 6.
It was just the latest win over the Heat for the Celtics who have won 10 of their last 11 and four straight at the TD Garden.
