Miami Hurricanes vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

A weary Georgia Tech team will travel to Miami to face a rested Hurricanes team coming off a big victory in their last game.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (2-0, 1-0) are also coming in off of a big victory so the question will be does momentum trump rest? The age old question will be answered when they head south to face the Miami Hurricanes (1-0, 1-0) who took a week off after nipping Florida State in the memorable Labor Day battle which saw them come out on top, 38-34.

With this game, 14th-ranked Georgia Tech will have played three games in a brutal stretch of 13 days, having played on Sunday, September 5, last Thursday and this Thursday, but they came up with a big victory in a see-saw battle at home against Clemson last week.

Georgia Tech dodged a bullet after blowing a 24-point lead, but sealed the victory when kicker Scott Blair hit a 36-yard field goal with less than a minute remaining.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets know how dangerous comebacks are against ACC opponents, they, along with the rest of the nation, watched as 20th-ranked Miami garnered 21 points in the final quarter to come back and nip Florida State on September 7.

For years the Miami Hurricanes dominated the series in their years of dominance in the sport, but as the brand name of Miami has lost its luster since the beginning of this decade, the Yellow Jackets have grabbed the upper hand in the series, winning the last four dating back to a loss in 2004.

No game during that streak more typified how far Miami has fallen than last year’s game in Atlanta when the Miami Hurricanes into the Top 25 after a solid regular season, but found themselves down by 31 points at one point in the game held on November 20 that prevented them from heading to their first ACC Championship game since 2002.
