Minnesota Vikings vs. Arizona Cardinals
One of the conteders to take over the throne of the NFC Champions are the Minnesota Vikings, but to get a little closer to that they will have to defeat the reigning conference champion, the Arizona Cardinals in their own building on Sunday night.
The Vikings (10-1) are playing as good as any team in the NFL not from Indianapolis or New Orleans and are riding a four-game winning streak entering into play on Sunday night. Their offense continues to roll, their defense continues to be lights out and they hope they can continue their winning ways against a team, the Cardinals (7-4) who were stunned in their last game and saw their three-game winning streak halted.
Brett Favre continues to marvel the sporting world as he is playing like the player in his prime a decade ago. He threw for a season-bed 392 yards with three touchdowns as Minnesota topped the Chicago Bears at home last week, 36-10.
If they can win Sunday and with a Green Bay Packer loss on Monday night, they can become the second team to wrap up its division following the Colts accomplishing that feat last week.
Arizona Cardinals is hoping to have their ageless warrior at the helm on Sunday, but his lingering effects of a concussion in a game two weeks ago may keep him out. He watched helplessly as the offense was a bit listless with a rusty Matt Leinhart under center last week and also watched helplessly as Vince Young crafted a game-winning drive with less than two minutes left to pull a defeat out of the clutches of a Cardinals’ win, losingh 20-17 in Tennessee.
Leinart was 21 of 31 for 220 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
Minnesota has won three straight in the series.
