Baccarat is a comparing card game played between two hands, the "player" and the "banker." Each baccarat coup has three possible outcomes: "player" (player has the higher score), "banker," and "tie." The goal is to hold a hand that totals 9 or as close to 9 as possible. Usually eight decks of cards are used in Baccarat, the cards are given point values as follows: Ace = 1, 2-9 = pip value, 10 and face cards = 0. Cards 2–9 are worth face value, 10s and J, Q K are worth zero, and Aces are worth 1 point. Hands are valued according to the rightmost digit of the sum of their constituent cards: for example, a hand of 2 and 3 is worth 5, but a hand consisting of 6 and 7 is worth 3 (the rightmost digit of the total, 13). The highest possible hand value is 9. In the game, a "Baccarat" refers to anything with a value of zero; in a hand of K, 4 and 6, the King is a "baccarat," and the hand value is also "baccarat." For example, if you are dealt 6+7=13=3. If you find yourself holding a 6+4=10=0, that is a "baccarat." When you are holding an 8 or 9 on your first two dealt cards, then you are a "natural" winner.
